Purchasing A Treadmill
100% Hardcore Truth
By Chris Walker Fitness Expert
Before you make that expensive buy or go on some kind of payment plan; if it’s your first time purchasing a treadmill for your home you’ll want to consider this.
What to look for
Look for a machine that has at least a 400 pound capacity and several different programs like fat burn, cardiovascular and various heart rate interactive programs (the deck will go up and down in response to heart rate). If it has a built in heart rate monitor great but sometimes those models are more expensive. The running deck size should be 65-60 inches long by approximately 20 inches wide. The frame should be sturdy and allow for a full range of motion. The treadmill should have a large clear LED display panel, you shouldn't’ have to strain your eyes. The motor should be at least 2.5 continuous HP and the rollers should be approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. Don’t worry if you don’t know what LED and HP is the sales guy should know what you’re talking about. If you’re tight on space you might want to consider a folding model and be sure to check your warranty if you use it often you’re going to need maintenance.
Tips for safe use:
•
Do not walk or run backwards on treadmill
•
Never turn belt on while standing on it
•
Always look forward looking behind will throw off your balance
•
Do not make sudden changes in speed
•
Hold on to the handle rails while stepping on to a moving belt
Enjoy your treadmill!
