Poor Self Image
By Chris Walker Fitness Professional
100% Hardcore Truth
I remember the time I was training this girl, lets call her Agatha, as me and Agatha walked passed the mirror she sighed, " Ugggghhhh, I hate seeing my reflection it must be hard work to be thin and beautiful". I could tell that comment went deep, real deep and through out our training session she would verbally beat herself up. I don't think she was even cognoscente of her behaviour. Her comments weighed heavily on me. I wondered how she came to be so low. You, see it's hard to train people like this because they have no self worth. Sure, I can provide the right exercise technology but the problem is they wont apply it; as soon as I'm gone the negative thoughts will creep in. "What do you think you're doing, you'll always be fat, even if you lose weight you're ugly......you're a fat, ugly, pathetic loser". All I could do is be sympathetic and try to steer Agatha in the right direction. Some times one hour training sessions go by so quickly because half of the time is spent patching up poor self image.
Ask for help
You may be hearing these voices. You may be depressed and the only reason you're considering exercise is because the doctor informed you of your high cholesterol levels. The doctor advised you to eat right and exercise and the only reason why you may listen is because you have children at home that depend on you. Children that need their mom to be around and in the best of health. Do you ever ask yourself how you got here. How you arrived at thinking you're unworthy of looking good or having a nice body. Were you always suffering from low self image or was their a turning point. A point in your life that caused you to let go of yourself. Ask God to help you. Ask him to help you reclaim your self-worth. Ephesians 3:12, says I may approach God with freedom and confidence. John15:5, says I am Christ's friend. It's just you and God nobody has to know, speak to him just like you were talking to your friend. Tell him your difficulties, it doesn't matter if you're a Christian or not, Romans 8:35-39, says I cannot be separated from the love of God. God designed our bodies and he wants you to be in the best of health. That means a healthy mind, body, spirit and soul.
Conclusion
If you never read a bible before I encourage you to start with the above scriptures. Go ahead and take the first step; fix yourself from the inside so you're free to take care of the outside.
